General Characteristics of Sleepwalking

Sleepwalking individuals appear to engage in meaningful activities, often symbolically reenacting suppressed painful experiences. After sleepwalking episodes, patients have no recollection of their actions.

Sleepwalking is evidently an altered state of consciousness. The individual becomes disconnected from the surrounding environment and seems to inhabit a personal world.

Their emotions can be highly agitated, and they may speak incoherently, making it difficult for others to understand them.
